Chillicothe Opens FAC Play with 50-14 Runaway at McClain

The Chillicothe Cavaliers opened their FAC football schedule with as 50-14 runaway victory at McClain. Both teams were (4-1) entering the opening of league play Friday.

The Cavaliers rushed out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and were up 35-7 by halftime. The continuing clock was in play most of the second half as Chillicothe built a 30 point lead. 

Chillicothe’s scores came on a 1 yard run from quarterback Mason Doughty at 9:21 in the first quarter followed by a Mason Siberell PAT kick for a 7-0 lead. That went to 14-0 at 3:13 left in the first period when Doughty found Tre King on a 9 yard TD pass.

The Cavs ran their lead to 21-0 at 10:43 of the second quarter when Doughty hit Coen Butler for a 16 yard scoring strike and the Siberell PAT. Doughty found Tre King for his second TD catch of the game from 9 yards out at 8:06 in the second quarter for a 28-0 lead.

McClain got their first score of the game after Andrew Potts ran 50+ yards deep into Chillicothe territory, then later scored from 1 yard out at 3:27 in the second period for a 28-7 game.

The Cavs quickly answered that score when Max Lee returned a pick-six 42 yards for a TD as Chillicothe went into the locker with a 35-7 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter, Chillicothe’s Mason Siberell kicked a 28 yard field goal at 8:59 of the period for a 38-7 lead to start the continuous clock. That was taken back off when McClain answered with a Riley Cummins 2 yard TD run at 9:55 in the final quarter, making it 38-14.

The non-stop clock returned as Chillicothe answered with an Oscar Morgan 14 yard TD run. The PAT failed and Chillicothe led 44-14. Chillicothe’s Gage Miller added a 16 yard TD run to cap the scoring at 50-14.

Chillicothe had 417 total yards to McClain’s 239. The Cavs threw for 316 yards on 18/25, while the Tigers were 0/6 passing. 

Chillicothe rushed for 101 yards and McClain 239. 

Mason Doughty threw for 281 yards and 3 touchdowns while Caden Eblin was 4/8 for 35 yards. Oscar Morgan was Chillicothe’s leading rusher with 66 yards while Andrew Potts led McClain with 223 yards rushing.

Tre King of Chillicothe is the McDonald’s “Player of the Game” for catching two TD passes to go with his 4 receptions.

Chillicothe’s record improves to (1-0/5-1) and McClain drops to (0-1/4-2).
