Circleville Boys Top Rival Logan Elm To Remain Unbeaten in The MSL Buckeye

Circleville’s defense clamped down on Logan Elm in a 55-44 Mid State League Buckeye boys basketball victory at Logan Elm High School Saturday. The (4-0/5-1) Tigers held the (0-2/1-5) Braves to 30% shooting and controlled the backboard for a 38-27 rebounding advantage.

The Tigers led after each quarter-stop; 13-7, 30-24, 46-34 and the final of 55-44. Circleville held leads of 14 points on three occasions, with the Braves’ only leads being 3-2 and 7-5.

The Litter Media Radio McDonald’s “Player of the Game” Kole Nungester led all scorers with 22 points, while adding 9 rebounds. Circleville also had big efforts from 6’4 junior Riley Jenkins with 15 points and 9 rebounds, while 6’6 junior Ed Kirk added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Blain Fowler had 5 points and Jack Kline with 2.

Logan Elm’s leading scorer Nemiah Waugh was held scoreless in the first half, scoring all 11 of his points after the 6:25 mark of the third period. Circleville frustrated the Braves’ 6’3 senior, rarely allowing Waugh and open look at the basket. Tyler Speas led the Braves with 12 points, with 6 coming from Owen Russell, Lucas Bialy had 5, Brady Neff 4, and Zane Seimer with 3 points.

For the game, Circleville shot 18/51 from the floor- including 5/14 from the arc for 35%. They also were 15/21 from the charity stripe for 71%. Logan Elm shot 17/56 from the field- including 9/31 from the arc, while shooting only 1/1 from the foul line. Circleville committed 10 turnovers and Logan Elm had 8.
