Circleville Lady Tigers Return To District Final in 46-25 Win Over McClain

Article Presented By Accurate Heating, Cooling & Plumbing…

Circleville’s physical style and inside attack was a huge factor in their 46-25 win over (22-2) McClain Lady Tigers Wednesday in the D-4 District Semi. The win for (20-4) Circleville rematches them with conference foe Fairfield Union for the district title Saturday.

McClain tore out of the gate for a 5-0 lead, but after a timeout, Circleville didn’t take long to get their game face on. By quarters’ end, the teams were even 6-6 and continued to play close through halftime with Circleville taking a slim 16-14 lead at the break.

Circleville gained more traction and put some distance between them and McClain in the third period with a 13-7 margin for a 29-21 advantage after three. But quarter four was all Circleville, as they closed on a 15-4 run as McClain failed to score a field goal in that period, going 0/8.

6’2 sophomore Addison Edgington dominated the inside with a game-high 23 points to earn Litter Media Radio’s “McDonald’s Player of the Game.” Kaylee West added 10 points, Maddie Blakeman 7, and freshman Mallory McConnell scored 6 points.

McClain was led by Larah Henson and Paisley Pryor, each scoring 10 points. Brenna Wright score 4 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, while Katie Cook scored 1 point.

For the contest, Circleville shot 18/31 from the field- including 0/4 from the arc for 58%. Circleville added 10/14 from the foul line. McClain was 7/31 from the floor- including 3/9 from the arc for 22%. McClain was 8/10 from the free-throw line. McClain committed 23 turnovers to 17 from Circleville. Both teams had 16 rebounds.
