The Falcons’ late game of catch-up proved to not be enough to overtake Circleville in girls basketball on Friday night.
At the end of one quarter, Fairfield Union had a lead of 3 to 2 over the Tigers. This would be their only lead of the game, as the home team went on to score 12 more points before the Falcons could put it in the basket again, winding up with a halftime score of 18-6 Circleville.
Circleville kept a healthy lead for the rest of the evening, finding themselves up 25-16 at the end of three, and with a final score of 39-29 over the Falcons.
Gabby McConnell was the leading scorer for the Tigers, with 17 points, while Elly Lewis of Fairfield Union had 15.
The Falcons fall to (4-9/6-13), while Circleville rises to (11-0/17-0) in their first home game since their leading scorer Addison Edgington was injured in a car accident. Fans wore blue to the game in support of Addison, and Coach Brian Bigam said the win was, “a testament to the type of girls in the program” and that the whole team played for a common goal this week.
