Don Creamer: 2025 Washington CH Christmas Parade Grand Marshal

Creamer Named WCH Christmas Parade Grand Marshal

Article Presented By Litter Quality Propane…

(Washington CH) – The 2025 Washington Court House Christmas Parade will be led by a familiar and deeply respected community figure: Don Creamer has been selected as this year’s Grand Marshal.

Born and raised in Jeffersonville, Creamer is a Miami Trace High School graduate who continued his education at The Ohio State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a major in Botany and Plant Pathology. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War, serving as a Clerk Stenographer for the Chief of Staff of the 4th Infantry Division before spending a year and a half in Germany with the 3rd Armored Division.

After returning home, Creamer moved back to Jeffersonville and began his postal career in 1974 as a substitute postman with the U.S. Post Office. He soon transferred to the Washington Court House Post Office and later became a full-time carrier on the same downtown WCH route, serving residents and the community for years before retiring in 2000.

Community service has defined Creamer’s life for decades. A member of First Presbyterian Church for 35 years, he has served on the board of trustees and, for the last 15 years, has worked with the church’s food pantry—picking up donations, assisting with distribution, and helping ensure families receive Thanksgiving boxes each season. This year, the pantry will provide 240 Thanksgiving boxes to families across the community.

In 1993, Creamer married Sara, whom he met while completing volunteer hours for his Master Gardeners certification. His dedication to horticulture and civic beautification is widely known. Since 2000, he has been an integral leader in the Washington Court House “Sponsor a Pot” program, which began with planters at the East Court/North Fayette intersection and grew to more than 83 pots last summer. He spends hours watering and fertilizing the plants that grace our downtown community all summer long, helping keep the displays vibrant and welcoming. He has also served as the city’s Urban Forester since 2000, helping guide tree care, planting, and stewardship efforts throughout town, including the grounds of the Court House and Veteran’s Park.

Beyond his work in service and beautification, Creamer lends his voice to the Fayette County Chorale—helping sustain the cultural vibrancy of the community he calls home.

Don embodies the spirit of Washington Court House. His decades of service—from the postal route to the food pantry, from the Sponsor a Pot program to urban forestry—have made our community stronger, brighter, and more welcoming. We’re honored to recognize him as Grand Marshal.”

The 2025 Washington Court House Christmas Parade will take place Dec. 7, 2025, beginning at 3:00 PM following its traditional route through downtown. Residents are invited to line the streets, enjoy the festivities, and help celebrate 2025 Grand Marshal Don Creamer’s outstanding contributions to the community.
