Article Presented By Classic Brands…

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine was among elected officials, Native American representatives and a few hundred community members who appeared at the World Heritage Inscription Celebration at Hopewell Culture National Historical Park Saturday afternoon in Chillicothe.

Governor DeWine took time for Litter Media to explain why this, in his words, is a “big deal.”

Chief Glenna Wallace of the Shawnee Native American Eastern Tribe in Oklahoma, details the significance of the Hopewell People’s contribution to early North American culture.

The work to gain this UNESCO World Heritage designation, took more than a decade to accomplish, according to local, state and federal officials. Local officials are hoping the new designation will bring thousands of new visitors to Southern Ohio.
