Fairfield County Health Promotes Safe Kids Month For Household Safety
Article Presented By The Outdoor Drama “Tecumseh!”
(Lancaster) – The Fairfield County Health Department (FCHD) is proud to announce a community partnership with Jesse Jones, a local State Farm agent, in recognition of Safe Kids Month this May. This collaboration is part of FCHD’s leadership of the Safe Kids Coalition of Fairfield County, a local coalition affiliated with Safe Kids Ohio, which is dedicated to preventing unintentional injuries among children.
This year’s focus for Safe Kids Month is household safety, and the coalition is taking action to address an often-overlooked danger in the home: carbon monoxide poisoning. Thanks to the generous support of Jesse Jones State Farm Agent, the coalition has been able to purchase carbon monoxide detectors for distribution to Fairfield County families.
“Carbon monoxide is a silent threat, it’s colorless, odorless, and can be deadly,” said Joe Ebel, Health Commissioner. “Half of all unintentional carbon monoxide poisoning deaths could be prevented with the use of carbon monoxide alarms.”
The detectors will be distributed through upcoming community events and outreach efforts, targeting households most in need of these lifesaving devices. This effort aligns with the broader mission of the Safe Kids Coalition to educate families, raise awareness, and implement proven safety interventions.
“Helping protect what matters most is at the heart of what we do at State Farm,” said Jesse Jones. “We’re proud to support Safe Kids Month and work with the Health Department to make Fairfield County a safer place for kids and families.”
