(Ross County) – Part of Fluor-BWXT’s commitment to the community is supporting small businesses through economic development grants and creating partnerships to enhance programs and grow the four-county region. Recently FBP partnered with the Joint Economic Development Initiative of Southern Ohio (JEDISO) to provide more than $30,000 in grants in Ross County.
FBP and JEDISO presented a check to Advantage Tent Fittings for $17,000 to fund additional equipment to aid in the production of hazmat tents and suits. The company, based in Chillicothe, is a leading manufacturer of commercial and military tent components. The company has been in operation since 1991 and remains family owned and operated.
“This company is a local success story,” said FBP Site Project Director, Greg Wilkett. “They continue to grow and expand and we are honored to help them make that hurdle to the next level of their success, keeping local dollars local.”
A $15,000 grant was presented to STAT Index Tab Company, a family-owned business that manufactures stock and custom index paper products used in loose-leaf binders and filing systems.
“We started our company in our two-car garage in 1991,” said STAT Index Tab Company owner Bob Kellough. “After nine months, we ran out of room and had to move and we have been growing ever since. This will help us buy new equipment.”
Kellough said the new equipment will allow the company to add more options to their distribution and ultimately lead to hiring more staff members.
“This is exactly why we provide these grants,” said FBP Community Commitment Chair, Tim Poe. “We want these small businesses to continue to grow and add economic value to the four-county region”
As part of Fluor-BWXT’s community commitment, significant economic investments are being made in the region through FBP’s partnership with JEDISO. The goal is to create and retain jobs for a sustainable and strong economy in Jackson, Pike, Ross and Scioto counties. Since 2011, FBP has provided more than $4.8 million dollars in economic grants–creating and retaining approximately 2,500 jobs in the four-county region.
