First Quarter Burst Propels Unioto to Win Over Adena

Unioto’s Zeke Schobelock scored 16 of his game-high 21 points in the first quarter as the Shermans built up a 20 point lead and held-off Adena’s second quarter charge for a 61-43 SVC boys basketball win Friday night.

The Shermans led after each stop, darting to a 20-2 start, then held a 22-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. That lead topped out at 28-8, then with Unioto up 30-11, the Warriors went on a 13-0 run to cut the deficit to 30-24, but were unable to draw any closer. The Tanks pushed their lead to 34-24 at halftime, then 48-32 after three, then the 61-43 final score.

Along with Schobelock’s 21 points, Blake Fitch added 13, Blake Hoops 8, Jordan Perkins 6, KB Perkins had 4 points/8 rebounds and 2 blocks, Newt Hoops 4 points, with Ashton Crace and Keyshawn Robinson each scoring 2 points. Zeke Schobelock was Litter Media Radio’s “McDonald’s Player of the Game”.

Adena was led by Joedy Ater’s 16 points. Lucas King had 10 points and 5 rebounds. Easton Henness had 7 points, Bryson Smith 4, while Cayden Lee, Darius Wagner, and Christian Heath each has 2 points.

The Shermans shot 22/44- including 5/15 from the arc for 50%. They were a perfect 12/12 from the foul line and committed 11 turnovers. The Warriors were 18/44- including 4/16 from the arc for 41% and were 6/6 from the foul line.

Unioto won the rebounding battle 28-19, with 8 offensive put-backs yielding points for the Tanks.

Both teams now stand (1-1/2-2) on the season with the next SVC boys games on Tuesday, December 19th.
