Five Paints Players Earn Prospect League All Star Status

(Chillicothe) – After posting the Prospect League’s best record in the regular season this past summer the Chillicothe Paints can now claim five All-Stars. League field managers voted Eric Colaco, Felix Polanco, Cole Raile, Jhors Gomez, and Carter White have all been named Eastern Conference All-Stars for their efforts during the recently-completed 2024 season.
Eric Colaco
The reigning NCAA Division III Player of the Year was a consistent league-leader throughout the summer, leading the league with 23 extra-base hits and ranking second in batting average (.396), total bases (103) and sacrifice flies (6), third in slugging (.628) and runs scored (53), fourth in home runs (7) and RBIs (46), fifth in hits (65), doubles (15) and stolen bases (38) and seventh in on base percentage (.462). Colaco also recorded a 1.090 OPS and collected 25 multi-hit games.
Colaco recorded a season-high 14-game hit streak between June 18 and July 8, hitting .482 with 27 hits, six doubles, four home runs, 22 RBIs, 24 runs scored. He slugged .814 during that stretch, had an on-base percentage of .515 and went 12-12 in stolen bases.
Felix Polanco
A regular in the lineup for Chillicothe, Polanco hit .304 with 45 hits, five doubles, four triples, four home runs and 41 RBIs. Polanco recorded an .860 OPS and stole 14 bases on 18 tries.
The Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, native from Wayland Baptist University also collected 13 multi-hit games and led the league with eight sacrifice flies and ranked second in triples (4).
During the regular season, Polanco also played shortstop, first base, outfield and pitched.
Cole Raile
The Radnor, Ohio, native from Virginia Military Institute hit .376 with 38 hits, seven doubles, two triples, two home runs and 26 RBIs. He also walked 30 times and stole 15 bases on 16 tries, while amassing a 1.060 OPS in 33 games.
Raile had an eight-game hit streak and a nine-game hit streak. He collected 12 multi-hit games on the summer.
Jhors Gomez
The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native from Southwestern Christian University hit .370 over 38 games with 50 hits, eight doubles, three triples, seven home runs and 31 RBIs. Gomez also walked 19 times, stole 20 bases on 22 attempts and recorded a 1.085 OPS. Gomez also collected 13 multi-hit games.
Gomez put together a team-high 20-game hit streak between June 7 and July 7, hitting .420 in that stretch with 34 hits, six doubles, three triples, four home runs and 22 RBIs. During the streak, he slugged .716 and had an on-base percentage of .472.
Carter White
The lefty from Shelbyville, Ky., and Lincoln Memorial University made 14 appearances and went 5-0 and earned one save on the season, amassing a 2.29 ERA. He surrendered nine earned runs on 26 hits over 35 1/3 innings. He walked 21 and struck out 59, fourth-most in the Prospect League. White struck out an average of 15.03 batters per nine innings pitched over the summer.
