Four Area Wrestlers in Championship Matches Sunday at The Schott

After Day 2 of the OHSAA State Wrestling Meet, the Southeast District will have four representatives wrestling for state championships in their respective weight classes.

Among the Girls Division, Jackson’s MaKenna Craft (32-0) battles for the 100 Weight Class after pinning Bri Graves from in 1:40. Craft is undefeated this season. She won the state title for the class last season. Brooklyn Wade from Washington CH moved into the 235 Weight Class championship match with a pin of Karlie Harlow of Greenview in 5:05. Wade faces three-time state champ Alaina Jackson of Minerva.

Teays Valley’s Camden McDanel, advanced to Sunday’s 190 Weight Class final after scoring a major decision 18-6 in the semifinal. The Nebraska signee will face Wyatt Ferguson from Oak Hills in the championship match. Circleville’s Trentt Fulgham will battle for the 285 Weight Class championship. Fulgham is matched with New Lexington’s Zane Pletcher in the championship match.

The OHSAA wraps up the third consolation matches at 9:30am Sunday morning at the Schottenstein Center. Then matches to determine 3rd, 5th and 7th places begin at 11am. The focus turns to the championship matches at 5:15pm.

Teays Valley’s Ava Miller has a rematch with Scotlyn Adams of West Union in the third consolation round. Miller sent Adams to the loser’s bracket of the 105 Class after the opening match for both. Adams won three matches to get to an opportunity to wrestle for third place. Miller slipped into the third consolation after falling in the semifinal to Sandusky’s Nikera Johnson in a 7-3 decision.

285 Weight Class: Joey Thurston, Teays Valley (35-8) lost by 3-1 decision in the quarterfinals; won by 3-1 decision in second consolation, lost by 6-4 decision in third consolation. Wrestles for at least 8th place

113 Weight Class: Travis Bucklew, Vinton County (40-6) won by forfeit in second consolation, lost by 9-3 decision in third consolation. Eliminated; Cannan Smith, Chillicothe (49-3) lost by 6-2 decision in quarterfinals, won by 9-2 decision in second consolation, won by major decision 13-2 in third consolation, has opportunity to wrestle for as high as 3rd place and no lower than 6th.
