Hall of Fame Volleyball Coach Lori Koker Steps Down To Focus On Cancer Recovery

23 year volleyball Hall of Fame coaching legend Lori Koker has decided to step away from coaching to focus on her cancer recovery. After treatment and surgery this fall and winter, she is currently cancer free. She’s also looking to start a support group to help others going through treatment.

Lori and her husband Allen appeared on the Litter Media LIVE- Special Edition with Mike Smith, where she talked about her recent fight with cancer and her illustrious coaching career.

Koker’s coaching record is among the best in Ohio for her career. Her most recent stint was at Southeastern, where she coached the Panthers for three seasons, going (41-30) and adding to her career won-loss record of (406-179). Her final season at Southeastern was (16-9) and district runner-up.

Her greatest success in coaching was at Westfall in the late 1990’s to 2010, where she was (273-86), winning two SVC titles and took three consecutive Mustangs teams to the State Final Four between 2002-2004.

At Zane Trace between 2011-2016, Koker won the SVC championship in 2012 and had a one district champion and one district runner-up squad.

Koker was the SVC Coach of the Year three times, receiving the award in 1999, 2004, and 2012. She also has received five district Coach of the Year awards and three State Coaching Achievement Awards.

Lori was inducted into the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2021 and also inducted into Westfall’s Hall of Fame in 2017.
