Hamilton Twp Commands MSL Buckeye Lead With Victory at Fairfield Union

Article Presented By Accurate Heating, Cooling & Plumbing…

The Rangers of Hamilton Township continue their hold on sole possession of first place in the Mid State League Buckeye for boys basketball following a 60-54 win at Fairfield Union, Saturday night.

Hamilton Township led practically the entire game with the Falcons last lead at 13-12 late in the first period. The Rangers led at every stop, 20-15, 31-27, 49-41, and 60-54. HT’s largest lead in the contest came at 47-35 late in the third quarter, but the Falcons stormed back to within 56-52, before the Rangers put the game away at the foul line.

6’2 junior Jovon McBride of Hamilton Township was the Litter Media “McDonald’s Player of the Game”, scoring a game-high 31 points. McBride says he trusts his teammates. “Every shot they take, I feel is a great shot. I’d much rather pass the ball, but sometimes when you have to break down to get the defense to focus more on me, but every guy on that bench will knock down a shot if I kick it to them.” Lucas King added 12 points, Daviace Packnett had 10, Brad McCarty 3, and Landon Hensell scored 2 points.

Fairfield Union was led by Isaiah DeLong’s 19 points, followed by Keegan Arnett with 12 points and 10 rebounds, Jaxson Iser with 10 points, Asa Kline 6, Keaton Webb 4, and Trevor Utzinger with 3 points.

The Rangers were 21/57 from the floor- including 7/18 from the arc for 41%. They were 11/20 from the foul line, grabbed 21 rebounds and turned the ball over 11 times.

The Falcons shot 23/54 from the field- including 3/11 from the arc for 42%. They were 5/6 at the charity stripe, grabbing 28 rebounds and committing 21 turnovers.

Hamilton Township improves to (5-0/9-1) while Fairfield Union drops to (3-2/5-5), having lost 4 of their last 5 games. The Falcons travel to (3-1/7-4) Circleville Thursday night, which Litter Media Radio will broadcast, with airtime approximately 7:15pm.
