Highland Health Dept. Hosting Brake For Breakfast For Breast Cancer Awareness

Article Presented By Scioto Valley Dumpsters, LTD…

(Hillsboro) – The Highland County Health Department is excited to announce the upcoming “Brake for Breakfast”  Drive through event in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We invite the community to join us on Friday, October 13th, from 7am-9am at the health department’s parking lot located at 1487 North High Street, Hillsboro, for a morning filled with education, empowerment, and community engagement.

Shirley Cox, Registrar at the Highland County Health Department explained that “Brake for Breakfast is a special event dedicated to raising awareness about breast health and promoting early detection of breast cancer. Our aim is to encourage individuals to take charge of their health while enjoying a delicious breakfast and gaining access to valuable educational resources”.

This event will offer free educational materials on breast health, emphasizing the importance of early detection through regular screenings.  Free breast cancer screenings are available through several local healthcare providers, and we want to be sure that everyone in the community know about these resources.  Early detection saves lives.

Participants will also be treated to a complimentary breakfast while supplies last. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to receive special gift bags filled with useful materials and resources to help raise awareness for breast cancer prevention.

Highland County nurses will also be offering the new COVID-19 vaccine and flu vaccines during the event to anyone who is interested.

Special thanks to the many local businesses and organizations that are supporting this event and our efforts to improve women’s health in the community.

Sponsors include:

Rural King of Hillsboro, Community Markets of Hillsboro, Karnes Orchard, Wilkin Heating and Air Conditioning, Highland County Emergency Management Agency, and Ponderosa.
