Hike at Lake Katharine State Nature Preserve on February 1st

(Jackson) – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Natural Areas and Preserves invites visitors to see more of Lake Katharine State Nature Preserve by joining a rugged half-mile winter hike Saturday, February 1st from 10am to 1pm.
Hikers will enjoy a strenuous hike with crisp winter views while learning about the fascinating geology of the nature preserve as they hike along Salt Creek. Participants are asked to dress for the weather and temperatures and wear sturdy footwear. All hikers will receive a commemorative winter hike sticker, while supplies last. This naturalist-lead hike is a part of the official ODNR Winter Hike Series.

Located in Jackson County, Lake Katharine State Nature Preserve is a delight in all seasons. This preserve protects unique geologic features, state listed magnolia trees, rare plants, and a champion 120-foot pitch pine.
