Hillsboro’s Camryn Spruell fires pitch

Hillsboro Clinches FAC Softball Title Share With 16-0 Win at Chillicothe

Article Presented By Ross Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau…

Hillsboro’s Lady Indians outscored Chillicothe 34-0 over two games Monday and Tuesday to clinch no worse than a share of the 2025 Frontier Athletic Conference Softball championship. The two victories of 18-0 and 16-0, both in five innings, handed Hillsboro it’s fifth straight FAC title.

For the past month, the eyes of FAC Softball fans were looking at the calendar for this late season match up, but a back ailment to Chillicothe’s number one pitcher C.J. Rittinger kept her out of both games in the series, and the Lady Indians made the most of the opportunity.

Ball State University bound Camryn Spruell picked up both pitching victories, striking out 12 Chillicothe batters in Tuesday’s two-hit shutout performance. Isabelle Brunck and Madison Dearmon did major damage at the plate, with Brunck singling twice and walking twice, scoring three runs. Dearmon was 3 for 4 with two singles and a two-run double, while also scoring three runs.

Hillsboro scored a run in the first inning, then added five in the third, seven in the fourth, and three in the top of the fifth. Chillicothe threatened with two runners on base twice in the game, but Spruell worked out of each jam.

Hillsboro had 16 runs on 10 hits and one error, while Chillicothe had 0 runs on 2 hits and 4 errors.

Hillsboro improves to (8-0/13-3) and concludes their FAC season with McClain, needing only one win to claim the undisputed conference crown. Chillicothe drops to (6-2/12-4) and wraps up FAC play with Jackson.
