Historical Aircraft Squadron to Host 29th Annual USO-Style Hangar Dance

(Lancaster) — The Historical Aircraft Squadron Museum invites the public to swing back to the 1940s at its 29th Annual USO-Style Hangar Dance on Saturday, September 20th, from 7pm–10 pm at Hangar B at the Fairfield County Airport.

The evening will feature live music from The Nostalgics Big Band, a full spread of BBQ favorites, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and soft drinks available for purchase. Guests are encouraged to dress in 1940s attire, with prizes awarded for the best looks.

For those looking to brush up on their swing moves, free dance lessons will be offered at 6:30pm. The event is BYOB, and tickets are $25, available online or at the door (cash and credit accepted).

“This dance is more than just a night of great music and fun—it’s a tradition that celebrates the history and camaraderie of the WWII era,” said a spokesperson for the Historical Aircraft Squadron Museum. “We look forward to welcoming new guests and familiar faces to enjoy an unforgettable evening in our hangar.”

The Historical Aircraft Squadron Museum is also a featured stop on the America 250-Ohio Air & Space Trail, which highlights the state’s deep ties to aviation history and innovation. Visitors can experience living history at the hangar while contributing to the countdown toward America’s 250th anniversary celebration in 2026.

The Historical Aircraft Squadron, Inc. is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration, display, and operation of former military aircraft and related equipment in its hangar museum at the Fairfield County Airport. Founded in 1994 by a small group of aviation enthusiasts, the squadron has grown to include members of all ages, interests, and talents.

Visitors are encouraged to explore the museum, interact with volunteers, and experience the unique atmosphere of historic aircraft up close. The hangar, situated north of Lancaster on the east side of Route 33A, serves as a hub for various events, educational programs, and ongoing restoration projects.
