Hocking State Forest to Host Fall Color Tour

(Rockbridge) – Come frolic in the fall foliage and take in all the colors during this year’s Hocking State Forest Fall Color Tour on Saturday, October 28th. The event, hosted by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry, is free and will provide plenty of fun for the entire family in the beautiful setting of Hocking State Forest.
“We are pleased to give visitors the opportunity to learn about Ohio’s forests under a canopy of fall foliage,” ODNR Division of Forestry Fall Color Forecaster David Parrott said. “Foresters and other natural resources professionals are ready to explain the science and history behind the management of one of Ohio’s greatest resources—our forestland.”
The historic Hocking State Forest Cabin is featured during the annual Hocking State Forest Fall Color Tour.
The Hocking State Forest Fall Color Tour event runs from 10am-3pm. It features wagon rides through the forest, educational displays and presentations, firewood processing and chainsaw safety demonstrations, wildfire fighting equipment, and refreshments. Professional foresters will be present to provide tips on tree identification, best practices for forest and wildlife management, tree trivia, and much more.
Tractor-drawn wagon tours are offered during the annual Hocking State Forest Fall Color Tour.
The tour begins at the historic Hocking State Forest Cabin, located at 19275 State Route 374 Rockbridge, Ohio 43149. Parking is available at the Forest Headquarters and all activities are located within walking distance from the parking area.
