The (19-12) Waverly Tigers incredible postseason run came to an end Friday, falling 7-5 to a very offensive-minded (20-6) Indian Creek Redskins team. Indian Creek banged-out 16 hits in the game, compared to 7 for the Tigers. Waverly made a late charge in the bottom of the seventh inning, but came up just short after cutting the deficit to two runs before the final out ended the game.

The Redskins were off-and-running in the top of the first inning with three runs on the scoreboard and held that lead until the Tigers scored a single run in the bottom of the third inning.

Indian Creek blew the game open with a four run fifth inning for a 7-1 advantage, with Waverly answering with one run in the bottom of that same inning for a 7-2 score.

The Tigers made a valiant run in the seventh inning on an RBI single by LT Jordan, RBI double by Jase Hurd, and a sacrifice fly by Hunter Hauck to make it 7-5, which ended up as the final score.

Indian Creek’s starting pitcher Sylus Hyde got the win, working 6 innings before being relieved in the 7th inning. He also drove in 3 runs for the game on a 2 for 4 plate appearance. Landon Pownall was 3/4 with an RBI, Sal Barcalow was 3/4 with an RBI and scored a run. Two other Redskins had two hits each.

Ben Nichols and Quinton Hurd each had two hits, for the Tigers. Nichols also drove in a run.
