Indians Halt Huntsmen, 59-50

Article presented by Accurate Heating, Cooling & Plumbing

The tourney trail ended  for the Huntington Huntsmen Wednesday in a 59-50 decision to Peebles in the D-VI District Semi-Final at Jackson High School.

The Indians held leads of 16-10, 35-26 at the half and 42-34 through three quarters, but the Huntsmen managed to close the gap to 53-50 with less than a minute remaining, but Huntington simply ran out of time.

Both teams had four players each scoring in double figures. Peebles was led by Carson Reed’s 14 points, Grady Knechtly 13, Josh McClary 1 and Bo Johnson 10. Huntington’s Frankie Hirsch paced the Huntsmen attack with 12 points, 11 for Kelvin Manson and 10 each for Gabe Beardsley and Eli Ary.

Huntington closed its season at 8-15 while the Indians improved to 11-12.

Peebles will face cross-county foe North Adams Sunday at 2pm in Athens at the Convo. The Green Devils won both regular season meetings with Peebles, 63-54 in December and again 62-53 in late January.
