A two run rally in the top of the seventh inning propelled the (19-8) Logan Elm Lady Braves to a 2-1 Division 2 District Softball Championship over (23-4) Sheridan Friday at Ohio University.
Sadie Binkley only yielded two hits while striking out seven Lady Generals, but found herself trailing 1-0 as Logan Elm came to their final at-bat. That’s when the late heroics began for the Lady Braves.
The 7th inning started with a single by Lynsay Vanhoose followed by a walk to Binkley. Ryleigh Wolfe moved both runners to scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. But the next LE batter struck-out, bringing to the plate Lucy Caplinger. With two out and Caplinger down to her last strike, Caplinger smacked a two-run single to put the Lady Braves in the 2-1 lead. Binkley then retired Sheridan in order in the bottom of the seventh for the Logan Elm title victory and a trip the the Sweet 16.

Four of Logan Elm’s eight hits in the game were split evenly between Caplinger and Wolfe, who both went 2 for 3.
Sheridan’s lone run came in the bottom of the first inning on a Hailey Mueller RBI single. The loss was Sheridan’s first in the last 20 contests as they conclude their season at (23-4).
The Lady Braves will play Jonathan Alder in the May 22nd 2pm Regional Semi at Pickerington Central High School. JA advanced with a 5-2 District Championship win Saturday over Bloom Carroll.
