Legendary HS Basketball Coach Larry Jordan Has Passed Away

The winningest coach in SVC Boys Basketball history and one of the top coaches in Ohio High School Basketball history has passed away. Larry Jordan died Monday morning at age 78, according to his son Chad, who spoke with Litter Media’s Mike Smith.
Larry Jordan compiled 600 wins in his illustrious coaching career, with most of those wins coming at his alma mater- Southeastern High School. Larry also coached a few years at both Waverly and Western High Schools.
He led the Southeastern Panthers to 14 SVC championships, numerous district crowns and three trips the State Final Four in 1977, 1981, and 1990. He was the SVC Coach of the Year 14 times, and many times as District Coach of the Year. Larry was also inducted into the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Larry Jordan’s contribution to leading the youth at Southeastern High School was so impactful over his tenure there, that the district named the high school gymnasium in his honor more than a decade ago as- The Larry Jordan Gymnasium.
Larry was also the Associated Press Ohio Basketball Player of the Year while playing and Honorable Mention All American at Southeastern, graduating in 1964, and later played college basketball at Morehead State University.
