(Chillicothe) ‐ The Ross County Post Overdose Response Team (PORT) honors Walgreens Pharmacist Benard Quansah with the Life Saver Award for his swift and decisive actions in administering Narcan and rendering aid to a visitor of his store.

On March 24, 2024, Mr. Quansah’s actions played a crucial role in saving a life by administering Narcan and rendering aid to a person suffering from an overdose. His quick thinking and compassionate care embody the spirit of the PORT initiative, which brings together multiple organizations to provide vital resources and support to those affected by overdose.

The Ross County Post Overdose Team (PORT) commends Mr. Quansah for his outstanding commitment to public health and safety. His life saving efforts should stand as an inspirational example of the impact individuals can make in combating substance use disorder and saving lives.

About The Ross County Post Overdose Response Team:

The Ross County Post Overdose Response Team (PORT) is a group of organizations that include the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, Chillicothe Police Department, Chillicothe Fire Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Adena Health, HPP (Hope Partnership Project), Ross County Health District, Ross County Community Action and peer recovery supporters.

This team utilizes data to make visits to those that have overdosed and their families to provide options for treatment as well as resources to address mental health, homelessness, and more. The team will leave a PORT bag with valuable resources.
