Logan Elm & Hillsboro Claim D-4 District Softball Crowns

Article Presented By The Outdoor Drama “Tecumseh!”

Logan Elm’s Lady Braves repeated as softball district champions Friday, while the Hillsboro Lady Indians won their first softball title since 2002, both winning Division 4 District crowns at Logan High School.

Logan Elm 9, Jackson 3
A 6 run first inning turned out to be the winning margin for the (18-7) Lady Braves in their championship victory over (20-7) Jackson. Logan Elm sent 10 batters to the plate in that frame, collecting 6 hits. Jackson did show life in the bottom of the second inning when they crossed the plate three times on four hits and one Braves error. But LE answered with two runs in the third and one in the sixth to pull away for the win.

Sadie Binkley, Morgan Armold and Hannah Gooley each collected two hits, with Armold and Gooly each driving in two runs. Logan Elm banged-out 12 hits for the game with their only negative being 2 fielding errors. Binkley got the pitching victory, scattering 8 hits over seven innings, fanning four batters.

Jackson’s offense was led by Lexi Perry and Daycee Howard with each having two of the Iron Ladies 8 hits for the contest.

Logan Elm advances to the May 28th Regional Semis at a site to be determined by the OHSAA.

Hillsboro 5, Circleville 0
The (20-3) Lady Indians broke open a close game in the fifth inning thanks to a bases clearing double by Chloe Roberts, who rounded the bases thanks to a Circleville throwing error, along with a total of 3 errors in that inning and 5 for the contest. The Lady Tigers closed their season at (11-15).

Rhianna Clemons had two hits for Hillsboro and Mylea Fridley scored twice. Cameron Spruell fanned 13 Circleville batters in firing the three-hit shutout.

The victory gave Hillsboro their first district softball championship since 2002. Hillsboro also advances to the Regional Semi on May 28th at a site to be announced.
