(Chillicothe) – The local Chillicothe Masonic Lodge #6 recently presented a generous donation to the Ross County Special Olympics. These funds were collected from the previous two Chicken Noodle Dinners sponsored by the local Masonic Lodge. The dinner is held annually in the spring at the Ross County Shrine Club and is open to the community.

These funds will be used to continue providing sports training to Special Olympics athletes. The Ross County Special Olympics program has been operating as two entities — Ross County Public, which is geared to adults with disabilities, and Pioneer School, which includes students. With the support of the Ross County Board, the future goal is to bring both entities together and build a unified program for the Ross County community that will represent at the local, regional, state, and national levels.

People that qualify to participate will be provided opportunities to build interest and skills in sports recognized by Special Olympics. The next step will be creating an advisory committee to help oversee the mission and direction of the local group. The Special Olympics group is looking forward to building a successful program by receiving support from the Ross County community.

If any local business or community member has interest in being involved in the future growth of Ross County Special Olympics, contact Courtney Davis at cdavis@rossdd.org or 740-273-1219.
