May Steps Down at Concord to Join Akron Zips

Article presented by Herlihy Moving & Storage and  the Ross Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau

Circleville alumnus and former Jackson High School Boys Basketball Coach, Todd May announced Tuesday, he would be stepping down as head coach of the Concord University Men’s Basketball team to accept an assistant coaching position at the University of Akron. May joins the staff assembled by new Zips head coach Dustin Ford.

In a release from Concord athletics, May said “For 14 years, Concord men’s basketball has been my life, everyday with a singular focus to make the program, and the people around it better. However, all good things must come to an end. (My wife) Megan and I were brought to Athens for a reason that we probably didn’t understand 14 years ago, but now we know it was to serve this community, Concord University and the men’s basketball program.”

May was the third winningest coach in the history of CCU men’s basketball with 152 victories over 10 seasons, beginning in 2015. May heavily recruited southeast Ohio as he began his time at Concord. Chillicothe’s Tommy Bolte was May’s first All-American in 2017-18 the season Bolte (31.8ppg) led the nation in scoring in NCAA Division II. Others included Unioto’s Brandon Kennedy, Jackson’s Cooper Donaldson, Ethan Heller from Sheridan and Logan Elm’s Adam Blake who served as May’s Assistant Coach for four seasons.
