(Kansas City) – The NAIA has named their Baseball All American Team, which includes a Ross County native.
Right-handed pitcher, Cruz McFadden of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Cougars, earned his first career All-American Honorable Mention honor after he put together a very impressive sophomore campaign in 2022. He’s also a member of the 2022 Chillicothe Paints.
In just two seasons of work on the mound for the Cougars, McFadden holds the program record for all-time career saves with 26. McFadden’s 15 saves for MVNU this past season led the entire NAIA.
McFadden, who is a graduate of Paint Valley High School, finished the season with a (3-0) record. The righty had an E.R.A. of just 2.81 and had 37 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched. He averaged an exceptional 10.41 strikeouts per nine innings pitched, and opposing hitters batted just .231 when facing McFadden on the mound.
