Miami Trace Clinches Share of Boys FAC Crown with Hillsboro Upset of WCH

In wins over Miami Trace and Vinton County in less than one week, the Washington Blue Lions looked like they were almost unbeatable. That is, until (6-3) Hillsboro pulled off an upset of (7-2) Washington in their FAC makeup game Thursday, 62-50.

The outcome hands (8-1) Miami Trace at least a share of the FAC title, who will host Hillsboro in their conference wrap-up February 13th.

Washington’s only remaining chance to share the FAC title would be for Hillsboro to pull off more magic with a win at Miami Trace on February 13th and the Blue Lions conclude with a win at Jackson.

In Thursday’s win, Washington held a slim 6-5 lead after the first quarter. But that was the only period in which Hillsboro was outscored, as they won the second quarter 16-12, 19-13 in the third, then 22-19 in the final quarter for the 62-50 victory.

Miami Trace’s only loss in the FAC has been to Washington, with the Panthers claiming the first match up.
