Miami Trace Cools Zane Trace Offense In Battle Of Area Basketball Bigs

(11-1) Miami Trace shutdown (9-2) Zane Trace’s high-powered offense in a 44-35 non-conference boys basketball battle Saturday night. The Pioneers were held to 11/49 from the field for only 22% in the game, with Zane Trace shooting a “chilly” 3/12 from the three-point arc for 25%.
6’8 senior Andrew Guthrie was a major obstacle to any Zane Trace effort to get their offense inside as the Pioneers took a majority of their shots from the perimeter in the first half, connecting on only 5/24 in the first two periods.
The Pioneers also had an uncharacteristic 14 turnovers in the game compared to only 6 for Miami Trace.
The Pioneers last lead in the game was 7-6 late in the first quarter, which is where the Panthers went on a 9-0 run and never trailed again. Miami Trace held a 24-12 halftime advantage and led by as many as 28-12 early in the third quarter 40-25 late in the third quarter. Zane Trace got as close as 40-32, prior to the 44-35 final score.
Miami Trace was led by Andrew Guthrie’s 15 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Brady Armstrong scored 7 points, Bryson Osborne had 6 points and 9 rebounds. Coledon May and Isaiah Reisinger each scored 6 points and Austin Boedecker had 4.
The Panthers were 19/51 from the field- including 3/11 from the arc for 37%. They added 3/5 from the foul line and grabbed 33 rebounds.
Zane Trace was led by Xzander Ream’s 15 points. Kyle Stonerock added 8 points and 16 rebounds. Nalin Robinson had 4 points and 9 rebounds. Landon Robinson scored 4 points and Landen Jarrell 3 points.
The Pioneers were 11/49- including 3/12 from the arc for 22%. They added 9/10 from the foul line and grabbed 32 rebounds.

Zane Trace will face Paint Valley on Tuesday to close round one of SVC play, with the Bearcats and Westfall Mustangs trailing the Pioneers by one game.
Miami Trace remains one game back of Washington CH in the FAC title chase, as the Blue Lions are the only team to beat the Panthers this season.
