Miami Trace Grabs FAC Volleyball Lead With 3-1 at Chillicothe

Miami Trace won the battle of the FAC Volleyball leaders Thursday with a 3-1 win at Chillicothe (25-22, 21-25, 25-17, 25-20). The Panthers improve to (4-0/7-2) while the Cavs drop to (3-1/6-7).
Set #1 saw Miami Trace get away to a 10-4 lead, only to see Chillicothe pull even at 22-22 on an Avery Cox serving ace. But, Miami Trace finished on a 3-0 run with Courtney Cox hammering the kill for the 25-22 opening set victory.
Set #2 witnessed Chillicothe getting an early 8-4 advantage, but the Panthers battled back to 15-15. The Cavs broke away to a lead they never relinquished, despite MT cutting the four point deficit to 20-19, with Chillicothe winning 25-21 to tie the match (1-1).
Set #3 had Chillicothe as a close as 16-13, before Miami Trace went on a 9-4 finish for the 25-17 win and a (2-1) match lead.
Set #4, Chillicothe led 11-10, only to see the Panthers go on another scoring run for a 23-19 lead, then finish it off 25-20 for the (3-1) match win as Gracey Ferguson ended it with a serving ace.
Miami Trace controlled the net for most of the match with both their blocking and attack.
Addyson Butts led Miami Trace’s offensive front line attack with 22 kills, while Courtney Carter added 12 and Sophia Parson with 7. Gracey Ferguson had 4 kills.
Chillicothe was led by Elizabeth Henson with 10 kills, Addison Smith and Avery Cox with 7 kills each and Olivia Beatty with 6. Sam Schobelock had 11 digs on defense and Avery Cox had 10.
