Miller Stars In Paint Valley Boys Third Place Finish In D-3 Regional Track Meet

The Paint Valley Bearcats Boys and Coal Grove Girls had the highest area team finishes in the Division 3 Regional Track & Field Championships, which concluded Friday at Heath High School.
The Bearcats’ 34 points placed them behind champion Ashland Crestview and runner-up Mount Gilead. The girls title was claimed by Dayton Colonel Crawford, with runner-up Fairbanks, then third place Coal Grove-Dawson Bryant with 47 points.
Cole Miller of Paint Valley starred with three regional championships and a fourth place finish, qualifying for each in the OHSAA State Meet. He won the 100, 200, long jump and placed 4th in 110 hurdles.
Area athletes to qualify to the OHSAA State Meet with a top four finish, include several athletes from Coal Grove, along with:
*Payton Johnson of Peebles, who took third in both the 100 & 200 dash.
*Hallie Haines of Leesburg Fairfield, third in 400 dash.
*Erica Durst of Eastern Meigs won the 800 run.
*Samantha Seas of Peebles, second in the 3200 run.
*Claire Robinson of Adena, runner-up in pole vault.
*Sydney Foglesong of Adena, third in shot put and second in discus.
*Cole Miller of Paint Valley won the 100, 200, long jump and 4th in 110 hurdles.
*Cody Hesler of North Adams won 400 dash and Garrett McKinniss of Oak Hill 4th.
*Brayden Obrien of Eastern Meigs won the 1600 run.
*Connor Nolan of Eastern Meigs 4th in 3200 run.
*Nelsonville York boys 4×200 relay second (Kaden McWilliams, Landen Inman, Hudson Stalder and James Koska.
*Levi Wolford of South Gallia won the high jump.
*Izaak Cox of Rock Hill second in long jump.
*Justin Moore of Lucasville Valley won shot put with Huntington’s Ryan Marion 4th.
*Justin Moore of Valley also won the discus.
