(Chillicothe) – Adena Health System has announced that Shaheed Koury, M.D., will soon join the organization as its new chief clinical officer. In his role, Dr. Koury will have system oversight and leadership for directing Adena’s clinical operations and quality of care initiatives.
Joining Adena following a national search conducted by an executive search firm, Dr. Koury brings with him over 25 years of experience as a board-certified emergency medicine physician executive, most recently with Quorum Health in Brentwood, TN as their chief medical officer & president of clinical operations.
“Throughout my career, my favorite positions have been those where I was in the hospital every day working directly with physicians, staff and leadership in a rural environment, so Adena became an ideal fit,” said Dr. Koury. “My number one job is to be the bridge between the medical and clinical staff and administration, so I am excited to begin that relationship building and be that voice for our clinical providers. Adena is in a strong position given all the challenges facing the health care industry and rural health care today. I see a lot of potential and opportunity for growth in the medical group, its’ leaders, and the services that Adena provides to best meet the needs of its communities.”
A native of northeast Kentucky, he received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.
Dr. Koury begins his new role with Adena on January 2, 2023.
