New Lexington Defense Smothers Logan Elm In Regional Quarterfinal Football

Article Presented By Pickaway Ross CTC Adult Education…

The (11-1) New Lexington Panthers didn’t panic when Logan Elm scored first for a 7-0 lead in their Division 4/Region 15 Quarterfinal, Friday. Their defense and offense quickly came to life, scoring 52 unanswered points on offense, and the defense picked up two safeties in their 52-14 thrashing of the (8-4) Braves.

The Braves got on the board first with a Michael Bock 11 yard TD run and the PAT kick at 1:29 of the first period for a 7-0 lead. That would be their last lead of the game, as the Panthers went on their scoring run.

New Lexington scored twice on safeties, and on TD passes of 43, 41, and 37 yards in the first half for a 29-7 lead at intermission.

A 39 yard TD pass got their scoring started in the third period, then TD runs of 5 and 17 yards.

The Braves final score came on an Aaron Walters TD pass to Preston Piacentini.

New Lexington piled up over 300 of their game total 434 yards in the first half, with 19/26 passing for 314 yards from Isaiah Stephens and 5 touchdowns.

Logan Elm was held to 176 total yards, with Michael Bock running for 103 yards and a TD. 81 of his yards came in the first 6 carries, but the Panthers smothered the Braves offense the rest of the way.

Logan Elm had two turnovers in the game, finishing (8-4) on the season, while New Lexington improves to (11-1) and moves to the Regional Semis.
