(Chillicothe) – Work continues to progress on a rehabilitation project on U.S. 23/35 in Ross County. The next phase of construction will include a traffic pattern change that will impact the East Main Street interchange.
Beginning Friday, September 5th, the northbound exit and entrance ramps at East Main Street will close for 45 days. This will allow the contractor to work on the right lane of the highway and bridges over East Main Street and the Scioto River.
Traffic looking to enter northbound U.S. 23 or westbound U.S. 35 can detour by entering southbound U.S. 23, exiting at Eastern Avenue, and re-entering northbound U.S. 23. This detour will add five minutes of travel time.

Northbound U.S. 23 or westbound U.S. 35 traffic looking to exit at East Main Street can detour by continuing north on U.S. 23 to the SR 159 exit and re-entering southbound U.S. 23 to get to East Main Street.

Once work is complete on the northbound side, crews will flip to the southbound side. This will result in a similar closure of the southbound exit and entrance ramps at East Main Street. This detour will add less than 10 minutes of travel time.
The $14.4 million project was awarded to Shelly and Sands. Construction is scheduled to be complete in 2026.
