OCU Announces Major Gifts To School of Science & Medicine

(Circleville) – Ohio Christian University in Circleville has received two sizable funding sources for their School of Science and Medicine.
In the preface to his sermon on OCU Night at Mount of Praise Camp Meeting, President Smith announced a gift from Dr. Eugene and Janet Blackstone in the amount of $1.2 Million for the OCU School of Science and Medicine. Dr. Blackstone is a cardiologist, head of clinical investigations, and a full-time clinical researcher at The Cleveland Clinic Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Institute. Notably, Dr. Blackstone’s father, Dr. George Blackstone, an ancient language expert from The University of Chicago, was OCU’s (Circleville Bible College’s) first Academic Dean. Mrs. Blackstone is a long-time educator and serves on the Board of Trustees at Ohio Christian University. The new school of science and medicine will be named The Blackstone School of Science and Medicine.
Smith also announced a State Capital appropriation awarded to OCU for the School of Science and Medicine in the amount of $500,000. President Smith added- “Many thanks to State Representative Brian Stewart, and State Senators Matt Dolan, Michele Reynolds, and Stephanie Kunze who worked with President Smith and Director for Strategic Initiatives Jenna Wood to make it happen. Thank God that He is accomplishing His purposes at OCU. We are grateful!”
