The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in the area next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

ROSS COUNTY

S.R. 159 Signal upgrade- A project to upgrade numerous traffic signals along Bridge Street (S.R. 159) in the city of Chillicothe will begin September 27. This project will affect the signals between Stewart Lane and Menard’s, as well as additional improvements to the U.S. 35 Eastbound off-ramp intersection. Traffic impacts are expected to be minimal, but may include short term lane closures and restrictions during work hours, 7 AM to 3 PM. Access to businesses and side roads will be maintained throughout construction. Estimated completion: February 2022

PIKE COUNTY

NEW* U.S. 23 Culvert Replacement – U.S. 23 southbound will be reduced to one lane daily beginning March 1 for a culvert replacement. The work will be taking place just north of Waverly near the intersection of U.S. 23 and Park Road. Estimated completion: Summer 2022

NEW* S.R. 220 Bridge Replacement – 
S.R. 220 will be reduced to one lane using temporary signals beginning on February 28. The location is just to the west of the intersection of S.R. 220 and Buchanan Road near Dailyville. Estimated completion: Fall 2022

S.R. 32/Shyville Road Intersection Improvement – 
Traffic control on this project has been modified for the winter season, with two lanes of traffic open on S.R. 32 in both directions. The median will remain closed for winter. There are no left turn movements at the intersection during this phase of construction. There are also no straight through movements for traffic on Shyville Road. The U-turn lanes can be used to navigate the intersection. Estimated completion: Spring 2022

Beaver Pike Bridge Replacement – 
This project has been shifted into winter traffic maintenance, with Beaver Pike being reopened to traffic as of December 1. Additional work will be completed using single lane closures with traffic maintained using flaggers as needed. Work on the project will resume next spring. Estimated Completion: Spring 2022

Germany Road Slide Repair – Project to repair an existing slide on Germany Road between Dutch Run Road and Millstone Road. While closed, traffic will be detoured via Adams Road, Red Hollow Road, and Coal Dock Road. As of December 21, Germany Road has reopened to traffic with no restrictions for the winter. The project will resume in the spring and be completed next year.  Estimated completion: Spring 2022

HIGHLAND COUNTY

Lynchburg Covered Bridge Rehabilitation – A project to rehabilitate the historical covered bridge in Lynchburg is set to begin on January 17. The bridge will remain closed for the duration of the project. Estimated completion: Fall 2022

JACKSON COUNTY

S.R. 32 Utility Work – Utility work is planned for January 31 at the interchange of S.R. 32 and S.R. 327. The work will take place from 9 AM to 1 PM. Traffic impacts are expected to be minimal, but will include two short duration (15 mins) full closures of S.R. 32 in each direction to run utility lines. All other work will be completed off the roadway with shoulder closures as needed.  Estimated completion: January 31 by 1PM


SCIOTO COUNTY

S.R. 104 Slide Repair – S.R. 104 will be reduced to one lane between McDermott-Rushtown Road and S.R. 73 for a slide repair project starting January 31. Traffic will be maintained using temporary signals. Estimated completion: Summer 2022 

State Route 823 routine maintenance – 
S.R. 823 will be reduced to one, 14-foot lane in each direction daily from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for routine maintenance and other work as needed from February 1 to March 4. Estimated completion: February 28 by 6:30 p.m.

ADAMS COUNTY

NEW* U.S. 62 / S.R. 136 Safety Improvements – The project will construct turn lanes at two intersections along S.R. 32. They will be at the intersection of S.R. 32 / S.R. 136 in Adams County and the intersection of S.R. 32 / U.S. 62 in Brown County. Traffic will be maintained with single lane closures. The turn lanes are being constructed on S.R. 136 and U.S. 62 Estimated completion: Summer 2022

BROWN COUNTY

NEW* U.S. 62 / S.R. 136 Safety Improvements – The project will construct turn lanes at two intersections along S.R. 32. They will be at the intersection of S.R. 32 / S.R. 136 in Adams County and the intersection of S.R. 32 / U.S. 62 in Brown County. Traffic will be maintained with single lane closures. The turn lanes are being constructed on S.R. 136 and U.S. 62 Estimated completion: Summer 2022

LAWRENCE COUNTY

S.R. 7 / S.R. 527 Lighting upgrade – Work is set to begin on a project to upgrade lighting at the intersection of S.R. 7 and S.R. 527 beginning Monday, January 17. Most work will be completed using shoulder closures only, however some temporary lane closures may be necessary. Estimated completion: Spring 2022

NEW* S.R. 7 Tree Trimming – S.R. 7 will be closed daily between S.R. 243 and C.R. 3 from 8 AM to 3:30 PM starting February 14. During periods of closure, traffic will be detoured via the 31st Street bridge to U.S. 60 in Huntington, West Virginia to the 6th Street bridge. Estimated completion: February 18 by 4 PM

Solida Road Roundabout Improvement – Principal construction on this project has been completed. Remaining work will be performed using temporary lane restrictions.  At least one, 12-foot lane will be maintained throughout construction on Solida Road. Estimated completion: February 2022
