Ohio Declares Disaster Aid For Storm Ravaged Counties

Article Presented By Tomlinson Insurance

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has authorized the use of the State Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) to help several counties impacted by severe storms in February, May, June, and July of 2022.

The SDRP is a reimbursement program that can be used in instances where storm damage amounts do not meet the threshold for federal assistance. The program is intended to provide supplemental state assistance to local governments and eligible non-profit organizations for costs associated with debris removal, emergency protective measures, and permanent work.

The following counties impacted by flooding that occurred on February 17 and February 18 may qualify for assistance:

  • Gallia County
  • Harrison County
  • Jefferson County

The following counties impacted by severe storms that occurred from May 6 to May 8 may qualify for assistance:

  • Monroe County
  • Muskingum County

The following counties impacted by the derecho that occurred from June 13 to June 17 may qualify for assistance:

  • Ashland County
  • Coshocton County
  • Guernsey County
  • Hocking County
  • Holmes County
  • Jackson County
  • Knox County
  • Logan County
  • Meigs County
  • Monroe County
  • Morrow County
  • Noble County
  • Richland County
  • Tuscarawas County
  • Vinton County
  • Washington County
  • Wayne County

The following county impacted by tornadoes on July 6 may qualify for assistance:

  • Clermont County

The SDRP is authorized for counties whose damages meet a countywide per capita indicator. Governor DeWine’s authorization allowing the use of the fund allows the Ohio Emergency Management Agency to request the funding from the Ohio Controlling Board.
