Ohio Department of Veterans Services, Partners to Present Women’s History Month ‘Power Hour’ on March 29

Article Presented By Ross Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau…

COLUMBUS – The Ohio Department of Veterans Services (ODVS) is inviting the public and media members to a special Women’s History Month program honoring the courage, resilience, and contributions of women in the military on Sunday, March 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum.

The event serves as an Ohio Women Veterans Advisory Committee “Power Hour” and also is supported by ODVS, the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, the Ohio National Guard, and Think Veterans First.

This community event will feature an afternoon of networking, author discussions, and meaningful conversations centered on women’s military experiences and stories. Light refreshments will be provided during the networking hour from 2 to 3 p.m., followed by an author discussion beginning at 3 p.m. in the Franklin County Room of the museum, located at 300 W. Broad St. on the edge of downtown Columbus.

The event aligns with several significant observances, including …

  • The recent signing of Senate Bill 17, designating March 9 as 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion Day
  • National Vietnam Veterans Day and Ohio Tuskegee Airmen Day – March 29
  • Women’s History Month

Featured books and authors include the following:

  • A Soldier’s Life: A Black Woman’s Rise from Army Brat to Six Triple Eight Champion by Colonel Edna Cummings
  • The Women by Kristin Hannah
  • Think Veterans First: Pushing Through the Pandemic for the WIN! by Regina Rembert

Admission is free for U.S. military veterans, active-duty service members, and Gold Star families. Standard museum admission rates may apply for other attendees.

Space is limited. Please RSVP to contactus@dvs.ohio.gov

This event offers a unique opportunity for the community to engage with powerful stories of service, leadership, and perseverance while honoring the vital role women continue to play in the military.
