Paints Offense Explodes Late For Prospect League Championship Over Alton

Things were looking bleak for the Chillicothe Paints in the third and deciding game of the Prospect League Championship Series Sunday, but their offense roared to life by scoring 14 times over the final two innings in a (10-run rule) 14-4 title game win over the Alton River Dragons at V.A. Memorial Stadium.
The championship is the third Prospect League crown in the history of the Chillicothe Paints.
Alton had forced the third game with a 2-0 win Saturday to even the series (1-1) after seeing Chillicothe win the opener at Alton, Thursday night.
The Paints trailed 4-0 when they erupted for six runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to take a 6-4 lead. Chillicothe won the game by adding another eight runs in the bottom of the 8th inning, capped off by a Brett Carson three-run double to seal the title win via the 10-run rule.
Alton scored two in the fourth inning and added single runs in the fifth and sixth for their 4-0 lead, before the Paints offense exploded for 14 runs to complete the game.
Carson was 2/6 at the plate for the game, driving in four runs. Nate Dorinsky was 2/4 with three RBI’s. Five other Paints players had one RBI a piece.
Chillicothe had 14 runs on 11 hits, committing 2 errors, while Alton had 4 runs on 6 hits and 1 error.
