PCCF Announces New Scholarship for Graduates Interested in Agriculture

Article Presented By Kingston National Bank…

The Pickaway County Community Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of a scholarship fund for Pickaway County graduates with career objectives in agriculture, with an emphasis on the family farm.

The Pickaway Sportsman Family Farm Preservation Scholarship Fund was created in 2025 by Pickaway Sportsman, Inc. to assist students enrolled in post-graduate studies related to agriculture.

Pickaway Sportsman, Inc. is a non-profit organization formed by local farmers and businesspeople to raise funds to further agricultural pursuits of Pickaway County students. While the initiatives of Pickaway Sportsman, Inc. shifted from brick-and-mortar projects to scholarship, the group’s promotion of youth and farming has not changed.

Mike Rittinger, President of Pickaway Sportsman, Inc.’s board of directors said, “Our objective has always been to help students who wanted to experience and pursue careers in agriculture. Preservation of the family farm was a goal from the outset. This scholarship fund is an even more direct and long-term method of meeting our objectives. This scholarship fund should be available to assist Pickaway County students’ agricultural education pursuits for generations to come.”

Alexis Conrad, Executive Director of Pickaway County Community Foundation, said the fund will award its inaugural scholarship for the 2027-2028 academic school year.

“We are really excited for this scholarship as agriculture continues to be one of the biggest industries in Pickaway County and is part of our culture and heritage. We look forward to the impact the scholarship will have on students and the Pickaway County Community.”

Details on qualifications and the application process will be made available to all Pickaway County students and graduates of Pickaway County high schools already enrolled in agricultural-related higher education before the end of the current academic school year. Further details on the fund will be posted on the Foundation’s website in early 2026.

The scholarship is limited to Pickaway County students and graduates, including Pickaway County residents who have home schooled or attended out-of-county private schools may also be considered for agriculture-related scholarships.
