Pickaway County Health To Host “Light The Way” Overdose Awareness Day

Article Presented By Kingston National Bank…

(Circleville) – Pickaway County Public Health invites the community to join in Overdose Awareness Day – “Light the Way” on Thursday, August 28th, from 11am to 1pm at Ted Lewis Park in Circleville.

This uplifting and meaningful event will honor the lives lost to overdose, offer resources and hope to those in recovery, and bring the community together to reduce stigma surrounding substance use.

“Overdose Awareness Day is about more than remembering those we’ve lost-it’s about building a stronger, more compassionate community,” said Tiffany Singer, PORT Coordinator and Public Information Officer at Pickaway County Public Health. “Our theme, ‘Light the Way,’ reflects our commitment to guiding one another toward healing, understanding, and support.” The event will feature:

  • Memorial Pictures
  • Community resource tables from local agencies
  • Giveaways and goody bags with harm reduction and wellness items
  • Live music by DJ Dray Stewart to bring energy and connection to the event
  • Free hot dogs, fruit, chips, and drinks for attendees
  • Two bounce houses for kids and families to enjoy
  • Opportunities for conversation, remembrance, and community support

The event is free and open to the public, and all ages are welcome. Local agencies, recovery organizations, and community partners will be on hand to provide information, support, and services.

Overdose Awareness Day is recognized globally each August to raise awareness, remember those lost to overdose, and acknowledge the grief of families and friends left behind.

For more information about the event or to get involved, please contact Pickaway County Public Health at (740) 819-3643 or email at tsinger@pchd.org.
