Piketon Bounces Back for 36-30 Win at Huntington to Close Regular Season

Article Presented By Pickaway Ross CTC Adult Education…

A game that saw five lead changes, ended with the Piketon Redstreaks coming away from Huntington with a 36-30 victory Friday to bring the curtain down on the 2025 regular season for high school football. Both Piketon and Huntington close with identical (4-3/6-4) records.

Redstreaks’ quarterback Luke Gullion connected on 17/26 passing for 294 yards and 3 TD’s, while also rushing for 132 yards and 1 touchdown to garner the Litter Media “McDonald’s Player of the Game”.

Piketon totaled 452 yards with 158 on the ground, while Huntington had 291 total yards. Huntsmen quarterback Frankie Hirsch threw connected on 10/20 passing for 134 yards and 2 TD passes. Both teams were plagued with miscues as each committed 2 turnovers, while Huntington had 13 penalties for 115 yards and Piketon 12 flags for 120 yards.

Big plays of the game included a 76 yard scoring strike from Gullion to Trevan Shanks for Piketon’s first score, then an 80 yard scoring pass between the two players for the game winning TD at 9:06 remaining in the game.

Piketon’s offense got the ball back thanks to a Noah Ross interception, as the Streaks went on a 10 play drive that ate up the final seven minutes of the game to secure the victory.

Late Friday night, computer football guru Joe Eitel was projecting that Huntington had slipped to 13th place in Division 7/Region 24, needing help to finish in the 12th and final playoff berth. If Covington defeats Lehman Catholic, it is likely the Huntsmen would be out of the running.

Piketon has already been mathematically eliminated from the post-season.
