(Indianapolis) – Malone University sophomore volleyball defensive specialist and Unioto graduate Hallie Pinkerton has been named Defensive Player of the Week in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference North Division.
The Pioneers enjoyed a perfect week to remain third in the North Division standings after going on the road to grind out wins against Lake Erie and Ursuline.
Malone’s defensive prowess as a team is impressive while ranking third among all teams in the conference in opponent hitting percentage (.151).
Pinkerton has done her part while ranking fourth in the conference in digs per set (4.81) as she totaled 42 in the previous two matches.
Pinkerton came up with 12 digs against Lake Erie and the Pioneers held the Storm to a .025 hitting percentage. In five sets against Ursuline, the sophomore came up with 30 digs, her second match of the season with 30 or more.
She has the match high conference total this season after digging out 36 attack attempts vs. Slippery Rock earlier this month.
