(Pike County) – Fluor-BWXT was recognized for its commitment to the economic development of south-central Ohio during the Greater Chillicothe and Ross County Development Annual Breakfast.
This year, the fund provided grants for eight projects in Ross County for a total of just over $209,000. That is a record for Ross County in the fund’s more than 10-year history.
Community Commitment Fund Chair Tim Poe was honored during the breakfast for his years of dedication to growing economic opportunities in the four-county region of Ross, Pike, Scioto, and Jackson counties.
“The Fluor BWXT Opportunity Fund fills a void in the region’s funding strategy, assisting with important projects that struggle to meet the metrics required to apply for state-offered grants,” explained Tammy Eallonardo, director of Greater Chillicothe & Ross County Development. “Over the years, Tim Poe has served as the Opportunity Fund steering committee liaison to the JEDISO Partnership. He has guided project development and celebrated the many wins with the JEDISO team members. He is dedicated to leaving a lasting, positive impact on our region through the generosity of Fluor-BWXT.”
The Joint Economic Development Initiative of Southern Ohio (JEDISO) has invested more than $993 million in Pike, Scioto, Ross, and Jackson counties over the past 10 years. Those investments have created more than 2,500 jobs and retained another 8,300 jobs for the region.
“Tim, along with the committee and the team at JEDISO have made a tremendous impact on moving our economy forward,” said FBP President and CEO Greg Wilkett. “Finding these opportunities to invest in locally-owned businesses is not just creating new jobs, but has created a region where new business and business growth can thrive.”
“I am both humbled and honored to be recognized by the members of JEDISO for our partnership,” said Poe. “When I took over as the Chairman of the Fluor-BWXT Steering Group, I made the commitment that I would invest the effort to make a lasting impact by creating jobs and improving the economic well-being of the four-county area where the majority of our employees live, and that commitment has never wavered.”
