
Portsmouth Breaks Away In Second Half for Football Playoff Win Over Amanda CC

The Portsmouth Trojans capitalized on Amanda Clearcreek turnovers for a 32-13 Division 5 opening round football playoff win Friday at Trojans Coliseum.

The Aces scored first with a 4 yard TD run from Tommy Stai at 4:44 of the first quarter, capping a 50 yard drive in 8 plays, for a 7-0 lead.
Portsmouth answered with a Fernando Poxes 6 yard score, completing a 40 yard drive in 5 plays. The two-point conversion try failed, leaving the Aces with a 7-6 advantage.
The Trojans turned the tide with a Dontavion Parker interception that set-up a 39 yard/6 play scoring drive that found Marquez Locklear hitting Camron Williams screen pass for the 13-7 lead. That held up at halftime.
Portsmouth added to their lead after recovering a fumble, then scoring at 11:44 in the fourth quarter when Locklear connected with Braxton Carr on a 50 yard strike for a 19-7 lead.

The Trojans drove the nail in the coffin at 7:34 to play with a 23 yard TD pass from Locklear to Leeland Scurlock for a 25-7 spread.
Amanda drove 83 yards on 9 plays at 4:51 remaining when Tommy Stai ran for 32 yards to cut the margin to 25-13. Portsmouth scored less than two minutes later when Leeland Scurlock dashed 86 yards for a score and a 32-13 final.
Portsmouth had 390 total yards with Locklear (pictured) passing 12/16 for 195 yards and 3 TD’s. He was named the Litter Media “McDonald’s Player of the Game.” Portsmouth had 11 penalties for 115 yards.
The Aces had 327 total yards with 234 on the ground. Tommy Stai ran for 168 yards and two TD’s.
