(Portsmouth) – Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Portsmouth has announced plans for its 160th Church Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, August 10, 2025. This historic milestone will be commemorated with two powerful worship services under the theme: “Built to Restore, Called to Lead”, inspired by Isaiah 58:6-12.

This day will begin with a Morning Service at 11am as Julie Wood Beckwith will be recognized for her years of ministry service. Minister Veronica Neely will be the Morning Service speaker. This service will be followed by an Afternoon Service at 4pm, featuring Rev. Dr. Troy Gray, the Pastor of Zion Baptist Church as the Afternoon Speaker, along with the Zion Baptist Church Choir and Congregation. A dinner will be served in between the services.
“We are honored to celebrate 160+ years of ministry, community service, and spiritual growth,” said Rev. Dr. Antonio Neely, Senior Pastor of Pleasant Green Baptist Church. “This anniversary is not only a reflection of our past but a recommitment to our mission and vision for the future.”
The celebration will be held at 1421 Waller Street, Portsmouth, Ohio, and will also be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page and Youtube Channel, allowing members and friends near and far to join in this momentous occasion. All are welcome to attend and celebrate this legacy of faith, leadership, and restoration.

Recently, Pleasant Green Baptist Church was listed on the National Parks Service National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom, demonstrating her historic connections to this effort to assist freedom seekers in obtaining freedom. “Still, PGBC believes today that whoever the Son has set free is free indeed.”
