Public Comment Period Open for S.R. 104 Intersection Improvement

CHILLICOTHE – As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation—District 9’s Planning Department, the district’s Environmental Office is seeking public input for an intersection improvement project on S.R. 104 in Scioto County.

SCI-104-6.36 (119956) It is proposed to realign the intersection of S.R. 104 and S.R. 73. The project includes drainage improvements and culvert replacements. The project is located in Rush Township, Scioto County.

The project will require approximately 5.732 acres of permanent right-of-way. The permanent right-of-way is located in the former canal, along a golf course, and on a forested hillside.

The project will require approximately 0.182 acres of temporary right-of-way. The temporary right-of-way is located in residential lawns and the former canal.

No homes or businesses will be removed by the project.

S.R. 104 and S.R. 73 will be closed for up to 160 consecutive calendar days. The S.R. 104 detour will be S.R. 104 to S.R. 348 to U.S. 23 to U.S. 52 to S.R. 104. The detour is approximately 13 miles.

The S.R. 73 detour will be S.R. 73 to S.R. 348 to U.S. 23 to U.S. 52 to S.R. 73. The detour is approximately 24 miles.

The funding for the project is Federal and State.

The environmental commitment date is 4/24/2026. The project is currently expected to be awarded 5/17/2026.
