Article Presented By Accurate Heating, Cooling & Plumbing…
(Washington DC) – The American Red Cross critically needs blood donors following a concerning recent trend – fewer donors giving lifesaving blood. Donors of all blood types are needed now, especially those with type O blood (ALL BLOOD TYPES ARE NEEDED).
About 20,000 fewer blood donations were collected over the past month than needed to protect the Red Cross national blood supply.
In a related note, June 14th is World Blood Donor Day. This day is meant to raise awareness of the need for a safe, diverse and stable blood supply and to recognize volunteer blood donors.
June 19th is World Sickle Cell Day, an opportunity to raise awareness about sickle cell disease, the challenges patients face while battling the chronic condition and the need for blood to support those living with the disease.
