Reflecting On Ohio’s Indigenous History

Article Presented By Hometown-Motors, Inc.

(Chillicothe) – In honor of Native American Heritage Month, you are invited to reflect on the deep and enduring legacy of Indigenous peoples in Ohio. In 2021, Ohio History Connection Senior Archaeologist, Dr. Brad Lepper, reminded us that: “Ohio history is the tapestry of the interwoven stories of all the people who ever called Ohio home.”

Ohio’s Indigenous history… has been a thread running through all subsequent chapters. ”On this journey, we also celebrate our tribal partners, the communities whose ancestors created the remarkable earthworks that still stand today.”

Take a moment to read Dr. Lepper’s full article as we honor the heritage, resilience and wisdom of Indigenous peoples, and reaffirm that Ohio’s Indigenous history is part of everyone’s history.
