Rep. Mark Johnson Says Ohio’s Prisons Need Major Safety Procedure Changes

Article Presented By Kingston National Bank…

Ohio House 92nd District Representative Mark Johnson of Chillicothe says security at some of the state prisons is out of control. Johnson made those comments during an interview on Litter Media LIVE Special Edition Tuesday while talking about his sponsored House Bill “Andy’s Law”. The legislation is aiming to improve security and safety issues following the murder of prison staffer Andrew Lansing by an inmate at Ross Correctional Institution on Christmas Day 2025.

Rep. Johnson claims RCI is one of the more “dangerous” prisons in Ohio. He claimed there has been 1,800 drug overdoses among 2,100 prisoners in the last 12 months and believes illegal drugs are making their way into the prison in various ways. He concluded with his legislation that safeguards need to be put in place to make sure that stops for the saafety of staff and inmates alike. He says law and order is needed inside prisons, just as it is expected in a free society.
